How to get Pokhara by a tourist bus from Thamel

Really easy to find a bus stop in Thamel:

Chitawon Bus Arrival Station, Kathmandu, Thamel 44600, Nepal

I chose “Blue Sky” and I paid 700RPS, which is AUD $9.

There are more than one company to go to Pokhara. The bus ticket is better to buy the day before to choose also a bus seat.

1. We left the bus stop exactly at 7am

The bus stops at some places to pick up other passengers. Nepalese are fighting with a bus driver about prices, seats and some more things I really don’t understand. Going to Nepal in July is pretty good because is not full of people. But you have to be acquiesced with weather – it’s cloudy all the time. Time to just enjoy the scenery of the city …

Naagdhunda – the highest point behind Kathmandu. It’s really cloudy and raining. We can’t see anything. The White is everywhere. On my way, there is a traffic jam and I am wondering when I could arrive to Pokhara. It’s gonna be long way. It’s been already 8:30am …

… and it’s better to go on your feet …

2. First stop Himalayan Lava Coffee

Location: Prithvi Hwy, Naubise 45100, Nepal

We arrived at 9am, it’s time to stop and try my first Himalayan coffee. We have got 20 mins for a break.

There is another traffic jam with beautiful views on hills (can I call them “hills”?).

Traffic moved at 11am, thank God 🙂

The lunch time is almost there and I can’t wait to try something delicious, yummy. Another stop is at 2:15pm, delicious lunch in Culture Village. Some photos from the way to have another rest…

3. Arrived at 2:30pm to Pokhara

I needed to stop at the intersection continues either to the Begnas Lake or Phewa Lake. It wasn’t a problem at all and even to catch a bus to go to the Begnas Lake was easy. I paid 15RPS. Afterwards I reached my place “Dinesh’s house” … and another adventure begins.

4. Conclusion

  • I woke up at 5am
  • The bus left at 7am
  • First stop for a breakfast and coffee at 9am
  • Always there is a time for have a rest for 20mins
  • Several traffic jams on the road
  • Lunch around 2:15pm
  • Arrived to Talchowk (intersection to the Lake Side and Begnas Lake) at 3:30pm
  • Reached the Dinesh’s House at 5:15pm
  • Totally exhausted I asleep at 9:30pm 😀
